Description:
Waypoint Center for Mental Health Care (WCMHC) is a design, build, finance and maintain project which utilizes a unique team atmosphere, where each contractor works closely with the general contractor and consulting engineers to implement the design of the facility. WCMHC is a brand new, modern hospital to be constructed on the existing Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene (MHCP) site located northeast of Penetanguishene. The new hospital will be a state-of-the-art forensic mental health care facility, providing a secure environment for offenders with mental disorders while respecting their dignity. The expanded hospital will replace the existing 160-bed Oak Ridge Facility and the 20 bed Brebeuf building and be the first step in consolidating MHCP into a more efficient, integrated building complex.
Kelson Mechanical Highlights:
The unique opportunity in this Infrastructure Ontario financed project is the opportunity to collaborate directly with our engineering partner, Hidi Rae Consulting Engineers, to assist in the design process and lend our mechanical construction expertise to help facilitate a cost effective design and implementation of design. The design highlights include consideration for post disaster seismic requirements as well as the fact that the facility is operated on a 24/7 - 365 basis. Also, the construction team will be pursuing the LEED Gold standard under the LEED reference guide N.C. 1.0.
