DESCRIPTION:
Lakehead University new Orillia, Ontario campus phase 1, the first of an anticipated 15 building campus. This project will be the first LEED platinum project in Canada approved by the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC).

·         This 61,000 SqFT 3 Story building will utilize the latest in ground source heat transfer technology, boring some 120 bore holes to a depth of 120 meters.
·         Kelson will also be key in installing the rain water collection system where all the rainwater will be stored in a pond feature which will then be sent back into the building, UV treated, and used for all sanitary fixtures.
·         The first floor will consist of a 200 seat auditorium, four 60 seat auditoriums and an open concept learning commons all with in-floor heating; Kelson has installed this piping just below the final floor finish topping, with controls fed from the basement mechanical room.
·         The second Floor will consist of classrooms, offices and an UPS server room, where Kelson has installed two 100,000 BTUH cooling units to provide cooling for all of Lakehead’s computer needs.
·         The third floor will consist of a core lab with offices on the surrounding perimeter. Within this lab area we have installed a Reverse Osmosis machine, and piping to lab benches which include Natural Gas, Vacuum, Hot and Cold supply water.

The core mechanical room is located in the basement with 12 Heating & Cooling pump skids, 2 AHU units, 1 Chiller, 8 Heat Exchangers, and 2 Hot Water Boilers. A secondary mechanical room on the third floor will house an additional 4 AHU units, and a Steam Boiler.
